Spiti Valley Tours was started as a risky entrepreneurial endeavor by local guide Lara Tsering in Himachal Pradesh, India. With the implementation of V2C web services, Tsering’s business expanded so that it was no longer a one-man affair; now he has hired other local tour guides to meet the demand garnered from his V2C redesigned website, which increased the number of visitors by 1500% thanks to our strategic search engine optimization. The Himalayan Connection allows local tour guides from any village in the Indian Himalayas to advertise their trekking services through our V2C site, TheHimalayanConnection.com. We first critique the guide and services personally to ensure that only the legitimate and quality micro-entrepreneurs are published. And then we promote off-the-beaten-track experiences as presented from an otherwise hard-to-find local perspective— anything from glacier excursions to homestays to the Dalai Lama’s teachings. The result is that these hard-working entrepreneurs, and in turn their communities, benefit from the proceeds. Read more about the project here.
